Vitamin C

Vitamin C - an extremely important water soluble vitamin. This is one of the (many) nutrients lost due to use of the Oral Contraceptive Pill.

Vitamin C is an important antioxidant, is essential for collagen production, wound healing, gum health, white blood cell production and immune function, helps to lower cholesterol, is essential for tryptophan and tyrosine metabolism (cofactors for dopamine and serotonin), and helps to regenerate vitamin E... just to name a few things!!

When I do a dietary analysis for clients, it’s extremely common for so many people not to be eating an adequate variety of plants, which are an excellent source of not only vitamin C, but the majority of your vitamins and minerals.

The best way to ensure you’re getting adequate anounts of vitamin C is to eat a rainbow of plants every day! My favourite sources include citrus fruits, kiwis, berries, cruciferous veggies, capsicums, Kakadu plums & cherries!
