Obesity & Male Fertility
Your health prior to conception is of great importance!
Research has shown that obese males have a 50% reduction of sperm counts, increased DNA fragmentation, and increased errectile dysfunction. This is due to the increase in peripheral conversion of testosterone to oestrogen which is enhanced in fat tissue, and therefore results in a lack of testosterone. This has a negative feedback on FSH stimulation in men, which is essential for the production of sperm. High body fat also increases testicular temperature - sperm a incredibly sensitive cells and are easily effected by changes in heat which causes DNA damage.
ALWAYS optimize YOUR health first before your conception journey! This should start at a minimum of 3 months before you start trying.
